Eric Maura Olsen, Sr.
August 02, 1934 - April 22, 2013
Eric Maura Olsen, Sr., 78, of Black Creek, GA, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Hospice Savannah, after a short illness.
Mr. Olsen was born in Savannah, GA to the late Ernest and Daisy Olsen on August 2, 1934. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Lamar Olsen and two sisters, Carolyn Garrison and Nitie Collins.
He was employed by American Cyanamid for 40+ years. He was a member and Deacon of Bull Street Baptist Church and a member of the Nelson Sunday School Class.
Mr. Olsen was a past member of the Exchange Club. He was a member of the Black Creek Golf Course and a lifetime member of the Crackerford. As an avid golfer, Mr. Olsen played golf three times a week up until his illness. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on October 1, 1955.
Eric was the perfect husband and the best of dads. He loved his family beyond all measure and was always there for them no matter how small or large the problem.
Mr. Olsen is survived by his wife of 60+ years, Sally Olsen of Black Creek, GA; two daughters, Helen Woodcock Chuck, deceased, Pamela Flanders James; a son, Eric Maura Olsen, Jr. Julie; one brother, Lawrence George Olsen Mary; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Bull Street Baptist Church with burial following at Greenwich Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or to Bull Street Baptist Church, 17 E. Anderson Street, Savannah, GA 31401. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all at Hospice Savannah for their kindness and caring during this difficult time.
Eric was my friend, neighbor and golfing Buddy. I will miss him. I am praying for Sally, Eric Jr, Pam, and Helen. Eric was a good man.
